Exempt Micro Enterprises

Any enterprise with an annual total revenue of R10 million or less is regarded as an Exempt Micro Enterprise. This is not applicable to entities in Transport sector who are regarded as an EME if they have a turnover of less than R 5 million. If entity is less than 51% black owned it gets an affidavit and automatically gets a level 4. If entity is 51%-99% black owned it also gets an affidavit and means they are a level 2. If the Entity is 100% black owned , it qualifies for an automatic level 1. Companies classified as EME under the Transport Sector are required to do a BEE certificate or a letter from the accountant, while the BEP and the contractor companies under the construction code may be required to submit a bee certificate.

Qualifying Small Enterprises

Any enterprise with an annual total revenue of R10 million or more but less than 50 million is regarded as an Qualifying Enterprise and are only required to complete an affidavit unless they have a ownership of less than 51%. This is not applicable to entities that are in the construction Sector and the Transport sector. If entity is 51%-99% black owned it also gets an affidavit and means they are a level 2. If the Entity is 100% black owned , it qualifies for an automatic level 1. This Rule is not applicable to the entities in the construction and the Transport sector.

Generic Enterprises

Any enterprise with an annual total revenue of R50 million and above They get verified and get a BEE Certificate regardless of their ownership.
